Looking for ways to give your clients something extra that doesn’t cost much in the way of time or money? Darlene Donovan, owner of Nail Creations at Bamboo Natural Beauty in Londonderry, N.H., has added hot towels to her pedicures, and while it added a few minutes to the service at first, she’s now got it down to where she can do it all in under an hour.

“After all the cutting, shaping, and scrubbing, I take both feet out of the water and wrap them in dry towels. I massage the left foot and when I am done, I wrap it in a hot towel, then a dry towel over that. I give it a squeeze, bend it up, and move on to the right foot,” explains Donovan. “While the right foot is enjoying the heat, I prep the left foot for polish, then I apply a base coat and one coat of color. I remove the towels from the right foot and do the same. I end with the second coat and top coat as usual.”
