There’s a reason the “specialty” menus at V.I.P. Salon & Spa in Riverview, Mich., look like they belong in a nice restaurant. Owner Reneé Borowy ordered them online from a restaurant menu company and had them embossed with the salon’s logo. “They are great quality,” says Borowy.

This little touch of class allows her to offer new treatments and services to clients by swapping out the printed pages easily and often, augmenting the more fixed main menu that features the salon’s basic services. “I created these specialty menus so that we can add, on a consistent basis, anything that is new,” she says. “We love the way restaurants provide daily specials, so we decided we would order one for each department and have each employee develop a service she would like to promote that is exclusive to her and place it inside. The clients are excited when they are handed the ‘specialty’ menu.”
