The American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine (ACFAOM), a medical specialty society affiliated with the American Podiatric Medical Association, recently began  partnering with Medinail Learning Center (MLC), an online training system, to offer a comprehensive training and certification program for Clinical Podiatric Medical Assistants. The Clinical Podiatric Medical Assistant Program was developed by MLC and has been offered on its website, www.medinails.com, since 2009. The Clinical Podiatric Medical Assistant Program will be nationally credentialed by ACFAOM, which will issue the certificate and oversee the educational program.

Nail technicians graduating from the MLC Medical Nail Technician Program will also be eligible for ACFAOM Certification. “The Medical Nail Technician Program contains the same non-invasive and safe foot care information as the Clinical Podiatric Medical Assistant Program though with added cosmetic information,” says Robert Spalding, DPM, co-owner and co-author of the MLC Programs. Both the MNTs and the CCPMAs must complete a structured internship with a licensed podiatrist in addition to the online education and exams to be eligible for ACFAOM certification.
