It’s not so surprising that a spa offering acupuncture, Ayurvedic counseling, and herbal consultations should shun traditional nail polish and artificial nails. Until recently The Dragontree Holistic Day Spa at the Portland International Airport turned away customers looking for nail care. Owner Briana Borten just wasn’t comfortable with the chemicals or the odor. But in May the spa modified its menu to include manis and pedis with two options — a simple buff or Minx nail coatings. "While searching for an alternative to nail polishes with noxious fumes, we found Minx and were impressed with the product and the results," says Borten. "It’s something fun and different." The fact that there’s no drying time is an added bonus for busy airport patrons.

A basic manicure with Minx runs customers $50, while an hour-long spa manicure with Minx runs $75 and includes a warm milk and lavender soak, a sugar scrub, a hand massage with shea butter, a paraffin dip, and an application of natural sunscreen.
