“Our motto is ‘nails with endless possibilities.’ We do whatever we can to live up to that,” says Tanaya Middleton, who owns Treasure Nothing Better Nail Studio in Baltimore, Md., along with her partner Sheena Smith. “We not only create unique nail art but nail masterpieces as well.” Achieving these goals means doing extensive staff training.

“We encourage our team to go above and beyond,” says Middleton. “We begin by training them to do certain designs — for example putting lace on nails or water art. We teach them the basic techniques, then they use their own creativity to make it their own design or creation.”

The owners base their pricing on the time it takes to do a design and the supplies that are used to create it. “Our nail art can range anywhere from $2 to $150,” she says. “When clients ask for creative nail art, we ask how much they would like to spend and we decide what to put on the client’s nails based on that.”
