When salon owner Stephanie Bigbee first started working as a nail tech, her clients were impressed with how clean and considerate she was to wear gloves, adding that many colds and flus can be prevented by covering up those hands. The owner of Fresno-based Polished Hand & Foot Spa already requires her technicians and clients to wash their hands before each service and offers plenty of hand sanitizer. Taking it one step further, Bigbee recommends clients request that their nail technicians wear gloves as an additional precaution. Bigbee says people seem to notice the cleanliness of the salon more than the use of gloves, but her techs still always remind her when it’s time to reorder.
