Week 1: So Much Fun!
Cosmetology school is so fun! Tuesday was my first day of school, and I had orientation. I went into a room with the other students and learned more about the rules and guidelines of the school and how we should behave.

I've always had a passion for nails, ever since I was a little girl. When I started looking for nail schools I also researched scholarships, and I entered and won the BCL/CND/Tippi Hedren Nail scholarship.
The moment we’d all been waiting for was about to arrive: The Mock State Board Exam. We were extra busy this week preparing for it by finishing up the book, notecards, workbook homework, review questions, and tests. I am so happy that I no longer have to do those dreadful notecards ever again!
Can I be honest for a minute? I do not want to see another notecard after I’m done with school. Please, I beg of you, keep all notecards away from me!
I started Week 5 knowing that we were having a nail competition on Thursday, and even though I am still fairly green at doing nails, all new students were expected to participate.
Well, it has finally arrived. These last two weeks have had their ups and downs but I am so proud to say that I am finally finished with school! I still have the hurdle of obtaining my license but I know that I am equipped to pass.
Only a few more weeks until I graduate! The highlight of this week for me would be the excitement that my friends are having about me being so close to the end of this process.
Well, I made it through one week of nail school. Whew! Let’s back up to see how my first week began. I spent most of my Sunday thinking about what a hectic schedule I will have from now until November.
The biggest thing that happened to me this week was that I received a certificate for professionalism in the school spa.

Instructors, NAILS Magazine is looking for our next student blogger for NAILS 101: A Student Blog. Do you have a new student or know someone who will soon be starting nail school? Does this person love to post online and have a true enthusiasm for all things nails? We want to hear from her or him!
Before I started this journey to becoming a licensed nail technician I was always fascinated with nail art. There are some amazing nail technicians in this industry doing some creative things with nails as their canvas. I consider myself a creative person, and this week I was put to the test.
Exhaustion is the name of the game. I can only imagine how it is going to be as I progress in the industry as a professional. But at the end of the day, at least it will be my choice how I do it and not someone else’s.
This week is so exciting for me because I have fallen madly in love with gel enhancements. I had the opportunity to practice with builder gel and it was such a great experience for me. I really had fun with it. My instructor said she believes I've found my niche!
I sat this week and really reflected on the fact that soon I will be done with school and I will be sitting before the state board to become licensed. I remember starting this program thinking that it would be the longest eight months of my life.
Can I just say that life has truly been a whirlwind? Things are getting busier and busier by the moment and it's exciting and scary at the same time.
