"Crazy good" is how one of our judges described the extraordinary batch of entries we received for our Mini Masterpiece contest. With jaw-dropping precision and exceptional skill, our readers managed to successfully capture the essence of many of the world's most celebrated paintings on a tiny nail tip.
It took Vu Nguyen just 45 minutes to complete his winning entry.
Jessica-Marie Ellison, an instructor at Yorkville School of Makeup and Esthetics in Toronto, picked up the award for Nail Tech Artist of the Year.
This year's winner spent six hours on her final design.
Best of Stuff winner Janet Martin of South Charleston, W.V. earns a NAILS cover shoot along with her share of more than $8,000 in prizes.
Spectacular. Amazing. Impressive . You can take your pick of adjectives, since all of them describe the quality and range of entries to NAILS' first Nail Mural Contest.
The annual competition gave techs a chance to highlight their advanced skill and creative vision.
The competition categories were Hand-Painted Work and The Stuff of Nail Art, which included airbrushing, jewels, colored acrylic or gels, and glitters.
