Week 5: Anatomy, Physiology, and High Scores!

This week was short since Thanksgiving fell on a weekday but we still learned so much. On Monday, we got our test scores back from our first exam and I got 82%!

Weeks 14 and 15: Second Mock State Board Exam

This week I completed my second Mock State Board Exam. You all may recall just how nervous I was due to certain problems that I encountered during that exam.

Week 4: Learning about Disinfection

This week we had our first written exam and I think I did pretty well. I won't know until next week but I'll post my score — fingers crossed I passed.

Week 3: Learning the Salon Business

This week we learned more about how the salon business works. We also learned the different types of ways you can work.

Weeks 13 and 14: Goals and Projects

“Why would you want to be a nail technician?” Someone asked me this question with a puzzled look on his face. “Why would you, being a chemist, even want to go do something like that?” He asked me that question as if to say that I was lowering my standards to become a nail technician. I explained to him my reasons for wanting to do this and the goals that I have.

Weeks 10 and 11: Consultations and Real Clients

My instructor really stresses the importance of spending time with our client to go over the consultation form. That is our way of getting to know the client and his/her expectations, prior experiences at nail salons, what’s going on with him/her medically, etc.

Week 2: Becoming a Professional

Cosmetology school is so fun! Not only do you learn how to be an amazing nail technician, you also learn how to be an amazing professional.

Week 1: So Much Fun!

Cosmetology school is so fun! Tuesday was my first day of school, and I had orientation. I went into a room with the other students and learned more about the rules and guidelines of the school and how we should behave.
