“There are a lot of ladies in uniform in San Diego and they love being able to find a salon that can offer some deep care for their tired hands and feet,” says nail tech Elizabeth Morris. Her salon, Va-Va Varnish (www.vavavarnish.com) in San Diego, Calif., offers active military members and their spouses a 15% discount on all services, add-ons, and retail.

As the proud daughter of a Navy war veteran, Morris wanted to show support and give a small thanks to other active military who put their life on the line like her dad did. Also, she explains, “San Diego is a big military town so I wanted to make sure I had a great connection between my salon and the community around me.” In addition, Morris is aware of the financial constraints felt by many in the military. “Most military men and women are on a tight budget and I believe they still should have the opportunity to experience the luxurious services and the relaxation that we offer at Va-Va Varnish,” she says. “I find that pedicures are a huge relief to feet that are constantly in steel-toed uniform boots and I wanted to make sure that my services were accessible to our military clients regardless of their budget.”
