To advertise his salon, Robbie Schaeffer, owner of ROB|B: An OPI Concept Salon, wrapped up a couple of Smart Cars with reflective graphics of OPI bottles and his salon logo. Schaeffer drives one of the cars as his primary vehicle while his father, OPI president and CEO George Schaeffer, drives the other. “Driving around in the basic car, you’re just one of the masses. If there’s something that sticks out, people look and stare,” he says. “People recognize me — I get stopped everywhere.”
Schaeffer used Irvine, Calif.-based Super Color, a banner and signs company, and says it took just two weeks from initial design to installation. According to Scott Powers, retail specialist for Super Color, cost depends on decal size and quality. He estimates the highest quality (non-reflective) decal to cost $15 per square foot installed, with a limited warranty. Companies can opt for one-piece decals like Schaeffer’s or go with a full car wrap, and in-house designers are available to assist with the designs.

Wraps last at least two years, and although they are removable with the help of a heat gun, Schaeffer is too happy with the results to consider it. “I’m not taking it off until I need a new one, or if I decide to go for new graphics,” he says.
