Do your clients need a bit of a pick-me-up? Try offering them hand and foot services that will help revive dull, tired skin. Salons and spas across the country are using ingredients such as chocolate and champagne to help make a service even more pampering and beneficial than atypical manicure or pedicure.
Ask anyone and they’ll tell you feeling rejuvenated is high on their list of wants. Who can blame them? In today’s world it seems everyone is constantly rushing around, going from one place to the next without so much as taking a few minutes to catch their breath.
That’s why the salon is the perfect place for clients to come out feeling rejuvenated, refreshed, and content. What could be better than having someone massage your legs and feet while you sit back and relax in a comfy pedicure chair? Besides helping clients feel revived, manicure and pedicure services also help smooth, soften, and help give skin a glow that just looks plain healthy.
We gather a few manicure and pedicure services from salon across the country. They’re all different, but one thing they have in common is the fact that they all have plenty of rejuvenating properties.
Service: Chocolate Decadence Pedicure
Salon: Robert Andrew - The Salon & Spa, Gambrills, Md.
Service time: One Hour
How it rejuvenates: this delectable pedicure is only offered during the month of February, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
“This service has all of the pleasure of eating chocolate also helps reduce stress and thwart off free radicals, says Talenti.
Clients soak their feet in a chocolate mineral bath. Next, a scrub containing chocolate, sea salts, cocoa butter, and grape seed extract is applied on the legs and feet. Then, a chocolate mousse masque enriched with cocoa butter is applied. That is followed by a vitamin-rich chocolate butter cream lotion that is massaged onto the legs and feet. Fortunately, clients do get a taste of chocolate - before heading out their tastebuds are treated to some.
Service: The Mysterious Wisteria Lane
Salon: Just Calm Down, New York City
Service time: 45 minutes
How it rejuvenates: This shady-sounding service combines lots of sweet ingredients, which translate into a manicure that leaves hand feeling soft and smelling heavily. Owner Tara Oolie says she loves incorporating flower into her services, but wanted to offer threw in other ingredients and tied everything in with a “Desperate Housewives” theme.
Clients soak their hands in small bowls containing Granny Smith apple slice. “Apples are super hydrating, plus the smell is nice and it’s visually pretty,” says Oolie. Next, a homemade sugar scrub is massage onto the arms and hands, followed by an apple, honey, and milk scrub. Then clients’ hand their hands are being pampered, clients sip on, what else, hot apple cider.
Service: Za Foothbath
Salon: Benu Spa & Salon, Dallas
Service time: 20 minutes
How it rejuvenates: Co-owners Cary Collier and Doug Chambers modeled Benu’s three footbaths after traveling through Asia and encountering this tradition. The footbaths combine the basic elements of soothing waters, intriguing textures, and human touch.
Za is the most luxurious of the three footbaths. Clients place their feet soak in a champagne bath. A grape-seed crush scrub is then applied onto the legs and feet, followed by an application of an organic rose lotion, which is massage onto the legs and feet.
Service: Cafe Coconut Latte
Salon: Pamper Perfect Mobile Spa, travels throughout Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland
Service time: one hour, 30 minutes
How it rejuvenates: this “yummy treat” as owner Tammy Butler calls it, begins with an immersion in warm coconut milk and coffee beans. “The lactic acid contained in coconut milk promotes cell regeneration, leaving skin soft and smooth,” says butler. “Coffee beans in the milk solution serve as a natural cleanser and neutralizer that also absorb odors.”
A coffee scrub is lightly massage on to the feet and legs, hands and arms,w hich are then wrapped in warm towels. Finally, a macademia and coconut oil is vigorously massaged onto the hands, arms, feet, and legs.
“:This service is perfect for the spa guest interested in an innovative new way to energize her body and pamper her skin,” says Butler.
Service: Age-Defying Manicure
Salon: Nailz hand & Foot Spa, cashier, N.C.
Service time: 30 minutes
How it rejuvenates: Clients are often encourage to purchase a package of six treatments to fully reap the benefits of this skin rejuvenating treatments, says owner Deborah Reeves.
A sloughing lotion is first placed on the hands to remove the top layer of dead cells. Then professionals-strength glycolic acid is applied, which is allowed to penetrate for a few minutes. The skin is then neutralized with gauze pads soaked in a warm, soapy solution. Then, hands are placed in a warm paraffin treatment and allowed to sit and moisturize for about 10 minutes. The service is topped with an application of SPF 15 lotion.
Service: Cucumber Pedicure
Salon: Somata Spa, Riverview, Mich.
Service time: One hour, 15 minutes
How it rejuvenates: A combination of advance moisturizers helps soothe chapping, while cucumber extract refreshes and relieves inflammation pedicure perfect for dry, cracked skin.
While clients relax in a pedicure suite complete with lit candles and a smooth-flowing water fountain, their feet and legs are treated to a rich lotion that has been placed in a warmer, filing the room with a cucumber and aloe scent.
Clients’ feet are also given and intensive mineralizing treatment then wrapped in soft towels. A cucumber treatment is applied to the heels and calluses as needed.
“This service is best suited for those who suffer from dry, cracked heels,” says spa director David Kankula. “It will also help those who stand on their feet all day. Anyone who plays sports, especially those that include walking or running will benefit from this treatment.”
