Slow No More

“It was my way of filling a slow day, as well as trying to offer the clients something nice to do for themselves that is affordable.” That was the reasoning behind the Ten Dollar Tuesdays promotion nail tech Rachel Bolek began offering late last year. “I made up some signs on my computer and posted them around the salon,” says Bolek, who works at Hair Studio 227 in Dover, Ohio. It didn’t take long for hair clients to notice and start asking for the service. The stylists also helped promote it for me.”

For $10, she offers her Classic Manicure, which is regularly $16. It includes nail shaping, cuticle work, massage, and polish. “Running this special definitely helped fill my Tuesdays!” she says. “I figure it’s better to be doing a service at a discount than doing nothing at all.”
