Tech Has a Gift for Graphic Design

Nail tech Colleen VanDurme doesn’t leave the salon too far behind when she tends to her second business: custom-designing and printing salon marketing materials. “I offer just about anything you might need for your salon — business cards, gift certificates, brochures, fliers, postcards, coupons, and frequent buyer cards. I’ve even done price tags for a few businesses,” she says.

VanDurme, a tech at Premiere Salon in Dansville, N.Y., started doing graphic design work at the same time she started doing nails. “I wanted to design my own brochure, business cards, and gift certificates and it took off from there. I opened my online eBay store last October and it’s been doing well ever since,” she says. “I am currently in the process of remodeling my dining room to become my designing/printing/shipping room.”
