When Princess Gard decided to attend America’s Beauty Show (ABS) earlier this year, she had no idea what to expect. Little did she know her entry would not only win her $500, but also a spot on the cover of NAILS Magazine.
When I went online to check out the winners of the CND Nail Style Competition, I had to doublecheck the name of the first-place winner. When I confirmed that it was really my name, I just started jumping and screaming — I’d just won an all-expense-paid trip to New York Fashion Week!
When we asked Orange, Calif.-based celebrity nail artist Elsbeth Schuetz to come up with a toenail art design for this month’s cover, she brought us a whole slew of nail tips to choose from. While her hand-painted nail art is always super creative and artistic, we wanted to go with something a little more simple and wearable for the cover. Inspired by tone-on-tone patterns, she created this faux-snakeskin design using layered polish and diamond-shaped rhinestones.
Gina Silvestro is constantly thinking outside of the standard nail “bubble” and strives to stay on the cusp of trends, while sharing and instilling innovative thinking and techniques with her peers. For this month’s cover we asked her to create something fun and bubbly.
With the new matte polish craze this fall, we used OPI’s matching matte and shiny versions of the same color to create a monochromatic French look. It’s a great understated but fun look for the holidays.
Lynn Lammers knows a thing or two about perfect nails. After securing the top spot on NAILS’ Top 25 List of competitors for the second year running (and winning the World Championship in Dusseldorf, Germany, earlier this year), she’s on a roll. And she seemingly can do it all — extreme pink-and-whites, colored acrylic designs, fantasy acrylic sculptures are just a few of her specialties.
