Q & A: Computer Software

by NAILS Magazine | August 10, 2007 | Bookmark +

I’m in the process of opening a nail salon in Johannesburg, South Africa. (We should be opening our doors in September.) I have two questions about the computer program you mentioned, is it an American program? Is it expensive?

Kim

I would like to know if this software will be easy for accounting purposes and running reports, or will you be using some other kind of accounting software as well?

Mint

Hi Kim and Mint,

Thanks for your questions about the software we’re using. (And, Kim, congratulations on the upcoming opening of your salon.) Yes, it is American software. Salon STX is based in Woodland Hills, Calif.

Pricing depends on the size of your salon staff and how many computers will be running the program. There are different rates for one employee, two to five employees, six to 10 employees, 11 to 25 employees, and unlimited employees. You can get more specific pricing here.

Salon STX isn’t accounting software, but it does easily link up to QuickBooks, which is the software my accountant uses. I also think it can link up to other popular accounting software programs. In the case of QuickBooks, you’re able to transfer data very easily from one program to the other.
