Your Guide to Becoming an OPI Educator

by Staff Writer | June 4, 2018

Being chosen to become an OPI educator will give you an amazing range of new opportunities. OPI selects only the most highly skilled nail technicians to train others in OPI products and methods. You will receive top level education, twice yearly paid trips to headquarters for training, opportunities to travel all over, and gain fantastic connections with other motivated nail professionals. If this sounds great, here’s how you can get started:

1. Review the requirements

Do you love sharing your knowledge with others? Do you have a strong, positive presence on social media? Have you been a licensed nail tech for at least three years? OPI educators must have a positive, outgoing attitude and a desire to motivate and inspire others. Good presentation skills and the ability to work with groups ranging from five to 50 students is a must. Educators must be able to facilitate 20 classes per year, have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, and be able to travel for work.

2. Apply

Email [email protected] to apply. You’ll receive an application form with more information on next steps.

3. Interview

Once you’ve applied to become an educator, someone from OPI will arrange a phone interview with you. This is a great opportunity to let them know about your skills, your qualifications, and your passion for nails! OPI is looking for people who understand the industry and have relatable salon experience.

4. Audition

After your interview, OPI will want to see your skills! You’ll need to introduce and demonstrate nail prep, gel-polish application, dipping powder application, acrylics, and hard sculpting gel. OPI will be able to see your passion for nails and education in action.

5. Take your career to the next level

As an educator, you will teach distributor workshops and seminars, present in-salon classes, demonstrate and promote products at industry trade shows, and more. Plus, you’ll receive six months of product to teach, access to an internal Facebook page for OPI educators to support each other and answer questions, online coaching to improve your skills, and lots of amazing travel opportunities. You’ll be able to travel all over the world while representing the world’s #1 nail brand and sharing your passion for nails!

Now that you know the steps to become an OPI educator. Apply to be an OPI educator and take your career to the next level.
