Born to Be a Nail Tech?

by NAILS Magazine | December 19, 2008 | Bookmark +

Faithful reader Darlene Donovan of Bamboo Natural Beauty Salon & Spa in Londonderry, N.H., sent me this adorable photo of her 4-year-old niece Skyler giving her a "pedicure." Darlene says, "I polish her nails every other week when she comes to my house, and one day she asked me if she could do mine!"

I thought it was funny that Skyler is being groomed (pun, intended) to be a nail tech, from the ripe age of four. Who knows what she'll wind up being (my parents tried to groom me into becoming an engineer - we all know how that ended!), but it did make me wonder when all of you knew you were going to become nail techs. Did you graduate from doing your friend's nails in middle and high school, to immediately enrolling in beauty school? Was it a decision you came to later in life? For me, I knew I was born to be in some kind of writing career from when I was a few years older than Skyler - about six - because I'd spend all of my spare time writing short stories. What about you? Leave me a note in Feedback about when you knew you were going to be a nail tech.
