Nail Salon Owner-Turned-Poker Player Wins $8 Million

Las Vegas-based former nail salon owner Qui Nguyen won the grand prize of $8,005,310 and the coveted gold bracelet in the 2016 World Series of Poker (WSOP) No-Limit Hold 'em Championship held in Las Vegas. The 36-year-old beat San Francisco-based competitor Gordon Vayo on the 364th hand after nine hours of play, making him the 47th WSOP champion after one of the longest sessions in tournament history.

Qui is the second Vietnamese-American to win the main event championship. The first goes to 1998 WSOP champ Scotty Nguyen, who won $1 million.
