NACCAS: School Enrollment Increases, More Men Entering Industry

There’s been an increase in cosmetology school enrollment of more than 29% from 2000 to 2005, according to a recent study by NACCAS (National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences). NACCAS says this increase could in part be attributed to the growth of males entering the industry. In 2000, there were 4,277 males enrolled in NACCAS accredited schools; in 2004, there were 9,637 males enrolled, an increase of more than 55%. Although the basic cosmetology program has the greatest enrollment, there has been an increase in enrollment in both esthetics and massage programs.
