Maisie Dunbar challenges cruise attendees to have the courage to chase their dreams.

In Vicki Peter’s memory, the Nail Those Profits cruise lives on through Nail Talk Radio. Once again it managed to be an amazing educational experience combined with wonderful opportunities to explore beautiful places. The cruise education occurs on days at sea, while the days in port are open for rest, relaxation, or exploration for the educators and attendees alike. To keep this post from getting too overwhelming, I will break it down into a few segments to cover the trip completely so you can get an idea if this is something you will want to do in the future.

Day 1 of education was a great way to start the cruise with a bang! It started with business owner and motivational speaker Maisie Dunbar discussing how we should dare to dream. Some quotes that attendees could take away as food for thought were:

> Dream so big you don’t think it is something you can actually achieve.

> Don’t focus on fear — focus on what you can get out of the opportunity.

> What have you been doing to make your dreams a reality? Who are you surrounding yourself with?

> Stay on course and get back up when you fall.

> If you have a dream, giving up is not an option.

> “A goal is a dream with a deadline.” — Napoleon Hill

As you can imagine, this presentation left us all feeling empowered and ready to go back home to the salon to continue working on our dreams, from becoming an owner to doing specific styles or designs.

The afternoon class gave attendees some of the tools to build their success in the form of quick and easy nail design ideas from Profiles owners Ami and Traci. They showed how to create trending art designs in realistic, salon-friendly timeframes that would up the service ticket without adding unreasonable amounts of time. Some of the tricks to design included stamping, chromes, silhouettes, and hand painting. The photo of the designs will give you an idea of what we learned and you can find some inspiration of your own by following them on social media.

The following three days of the cruise were port stops at Cabo, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta. You could spend these days with the friends or family you brought along for the trip or with other nail professionals. It is so much fun to explore the locations or kick back in the spa on the ship or even take advantage of the less crowded pools and decks on board.

A turtle sanctuary was a stop chosen by a few cruisers, myself included.

A whale-watching snorkeling trip taken by several attendees included a close encounter in the form of a hello boat bump from a humpback whale!
