Chris Mans (@jewelednails) is a well-known educator and competitor in the nail world. An alum of NAILS Next Top Nail Artist Season One and Oxygen’s Nail’d It, his seven-year nail career is the stuff dreams are made of. His salon — Jeweled Nails — in Lake Forest, Calif., speaks to his love of Japanese-style gel nail art. For the December cover of NAILS, he wanted to incorporate an array of jewels in a customizable fashion. This nail look allows the wearer to switch out some of the gems as she pleases using magnets and snaps. Mans sourced vintage-looking jewelry from some of his favorite places to give the wearer plenty of sparkly options.

Here are Mans’ steps for this month’s cover look:

1. Sculpt nails with clear builder gel. Mans used Bio Sculpture Gel.

2. Adhere gold leaf foil over natural smile line.

3. Set permanent gems with gel. Adhere magnets (from Wiino shop) with gel to act
as a base for interchangeable jewelry.

4. Attach attracting magnets to bottom of jewelry. Change out jewelry on nails
as desired.

by Holly Schippers
