South Dakota Gov. Bill Janklow signed SB 158 into law March 19, which allows the South Dakota Cosmetology Commission to license nail technicians separately from other cosmetologists, to provide for a nail shop license, and to revise certain provisions concerning the commission. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Jim D. Thompson, Sen. Alan Aker, Rep. Kay S. Jorgensen, Rep. Steve Cutler, Rep. Michael DeMersseman, Rep. Roger W. Hunt, and Rep. Robert A. Roe. The law goes into effect July 1, 1997.
