Nails are an art form that have been around for centuries. The history is vast and entertaining, encompassing men and women, with a range of meaning from a sign of wealth and stature in royalty or high society to aggression and stamina in battle for soldiers. The things that can be created by nail artists now are nothing short of miraculous and most definitely deserving of a platform.
Enter the Oceanside Museum of Art and the new exhibit “Tiny Canvases” that will be on display through the beginning of February, at which time it will travel to be displayed in Bologna, Italy. This exhibit honors everything nails from artists to history, chemistry to concepts, collaborations to runways, and gives visitors a small glimpse into the journey of nails and their importance in the world.
You can visit the display and experience it for yourself, or if a trip to California is not in your near future, I have some photos and videos put together for you to let you feel like you’ve gotten a glimpse of the exhibit from afar. Enjoy!
