With an increase in at-home care due to salon shut down, NAILS asked Erika Allison, MNT of NuFeet Medical Pedicures, how clients can protect their feet between pedicures. Here's her advice:
Remind clients to exfoliate with a really good pumice stone. Removing dead skin will reveal new skin. I have a video on my website showing how I pumice my feet that I share with my clients.
Tell them to hydrate feet with a natural foot serum filled with natural antifungal essential oils to give feet a preventative defense to whatever environment they are in at this time.
Moisturize with a thick foot cream of choice to lock in that moisture. However if clients generally have sweaty feet or find that feet sweat with heavy lotion, try something lighter OR skip this step and just use the foot serum.
All of these products can be found at www.nufeetmedispa.com. Doing this regimen in between pedicures is necessary for most people and is a crucial step for keeping feet smooth while on lockdown. Making sure to keep toenails nicely filed and on the shorter side, but not too short to where they are subject to ingrowns. Lastly, have clients remove the polish, if possible.
