Louis Vuitton Goes Short and Sparkly

Samantha Sweet figured out how to affix  tiny Swarovski crystals to nail overlays.

The look was surprisingly fresh and young when Team Creative UK placed Swarovski crystals on short nails for the Louis Vuitton Spring 2007 runway show in Paris.

Stylist Katie Grand came up with the concept for the diamond-encrusted nails, but it was Designer Nails’ Samantha Sweet who actually figured out how to affix the tiny Swarovski crystals to nail overlays that would later be attached to the models’ nails. Nail techs Amanda Fontananosa, Lisa Smith, and Lorraine Griffin spent more than eight hours completing 40 sets of nails only to learn that just two models were slated to wear the design. “Once those two were done, they liked them so much they added another 12 models,” says Sweet. “All the models from the show now have a diamond Louis Vuitton nail stuck to their mobile phone.”
