U.K.-based nail tech Danni Simmons started the Nail Tech Network Facebook group in November 2016 when she was eight-months pregnant and trying to keep pre-natal depression and anxiety at bay. “It was initially a local group, but within six months we had requests to join from all over the world,” she says. A little more than a year later, membership is in the thousands. “We just brought on an American admin and would love to see more U.S.-based techs joining,” she notes.
Students and professionals of all levels are welcome, says Simmons. Product recommendations and troubleshooting advice are among the most popular topics, along with plenty of nail art photos — of course. “I also do live feeds sharing new products and collections from brands that wish to share them with the Nail Tech Network family.”
One of Simmons’ top priorities is to create a safe, supportive space for nail techs: “Absolutely no negative or rude talk is allowed. We believe that other techs are our colleagues, our peers, and our friends — never our competition.”
