It has been one month since the Premiere Orlando show, and I am still buzzing off of the information I received, overheard, and conversations I purposely listened in on. Here is my disclaimer: not all of the information was stellar but the majority of it was. I say this because as I was going through some notes taken at the show I thought of an instance I would like to share.
While at the show I met a lady (not the lady in the photo, who happens to be my lovely wife and salon co-owner and who walked the show floor with me) who has been a nail tech for 20-plus years. Our paths crossed several times and during those crossings one-liners were exchanged.
So when our next passing occurred we engaged in a brief conversation regarding the show and some of the brands around. I am such a sucker for my peers’ reviews and experiences regarding products and organizations -- information that helps me in making decisions regarding my next endeavor(s). Mind you, I always have my uncles saying in the back of my head, “Believe half of what you see and not a damn thing you hear.”
This leads to the issue I had with my new friend, almost every sentence Negative Nancy (another disclaimer: If your name is Nancy, sorry!) was discrediting products and manufactures: company A is a rip off, company B’s product is no good, and companies C - Z are all about the same. At one point she stated she didn’t even know why she was at the show this year because nothing has changed. At this point I started plotting my escape route.
I wanted to share this story with you to give you these words of wisdom that I received form Les Brown: “You can’t soar with the eagles if you hang out with pigeons.”
