In a bilingual English-Spanish address at the company’s North Hollywood headquarters, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa recognized OPI for its “great corporate citizenship,” saying that the 400 jobs the company has created are a model for the rest of Los Angeles.

Speaking to OPI founder and CEO George Schaeffer, executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, and a packed room of OPI employees, Villaraigosa said, “I came here to acknowledge OPI — a company started by two immigrants from Hungary (Schaeffer and Weiss-Fischmann) and, today, many of the people who work for you are immigrants too. People come here with a dream and are willing to work hard. You’ve proved that, and I couldn’t be prouder.” He presented an official “certificate of recognition” to Schaeffer and Weiss-Fischmann to conclude the event.
