How do you benefit from trade shows?
I have been doing nails for 18 years and my philosophy is you never know enough. Rather than rely on local suppliers, I go to trade shows so I can see, feel, and try products, as well as talk to other experienced techs.-Sylvia Rook, Pacific Hair, Cambria, Calif.
I benefit by learning new techniques and product information. I also learn about business and retail selling. The best part is meeting new people.-Della Leonard, Hair to Tease, Nails to Please, North Bend, Ore.
Our salon benefits from trade shows by telling our clients that we will be attending the shows looking for new ideas. Clients love when they hear that a new product will be offered to them on their next visit and nine times out of 10, they tell a friend about us.-Laura Strauss, Top 10 Nail Salon, Laurel Springs, N.J.
I benefit from trade shows in several ways-I get to meet other nail artists, find out about and try new products, and take classes devoted specifically to nails-all under one roof.-Deb Blowars, Nails by Tanya, Perkasie, Pa.
I live in Canada where trade shows are geared toward hair rather than nails. My first U.S. trade show was unbelievable. I was so pumped up to meet other nail techs who were just as enthusiastic about nails as I am. Talking with and making friends with the manufacturers was great, too. Seeing all of the products that are on the market was overwhelming and the seminars were invaluable-Deborah McKinley, Artistic Nail Image, Brampton, Ontario
Trade shows used to be the place to buy products at discount prices. Now, the education classes are the reason I go. They help me keep up with the latest trends and my clients appreciate the fact that I am interested in my career by attending the shows.- Jan White, Genesis Salon and Spa, Reno, Nev.
