It’s a tie! Congratulations to this year’s Mini Masterpiece Contest co-winners. Ashley Loveridge charmed the judges with her “Green Turaco,” while Lee Antolini impressed all with her spot-on “Seated Woman.” You’re sure to enjoy the tremendous talent on display in all the entries.
An iconic World War II-era black-and-white photo was the subject of this year’s winning entry. Nail tech Amber Dunson’s skillful artwork captures the exuberance of an American sailor celebrating V-J Day with a kiss in Times Square.
Congratulations to Michelle Whitaker of Salon Legacy Nails in Rolla, Mo. This self-taught artist earned a win by capturing the moody beauty of a Leonid Afremov painting. And be sure to take a look at the other outstanding entries in this tough field.
Mixing the classic with the modern, Lichtenstein, Magritte, Van Gogh, and Kandinsky were all represented in this year’s crop of winning mini-masterpieces. Prepared to be amazed at the skill and precision evident in all these entries.
It requires a lot of talent and a little bit of nerve to take on the world’s greatest masters. These bold nail artists rolled up their sleeves, gathered their finest brushes, and attempted to re-create a famous work of art on a nail tip to compete in this year’s Mini-Masterpiece Contest.
NAILS would like to salute all the masters of their craft who submitted entries to our annual Mini-Masterpiece Contest. Special congratulations go to Vaida Indrasiute-Stefanek of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., who took on Van Gogh and triumphed.
