Self-Care for Nail Techs

I recently posted on Facebook asking nail professionals what they had done for self-care lately. Some claim to be too busy, some were doing a good job of seeking out services like pedicures, massages, chiropractor appointments, etc. Perhaps we could come up with some ideas for self-care that don't involve much time or expense, making it accessible to more people with less chance of excuses and life getting in the way.

One form of self-care is time. A small mental vacation from everything to relax your mind and body. Choose a place to sit that you will not be interrupted, a secluded room even if you have to resort to a chair in a closet! Grab some headphones and pick something to listen to whether it is music, white noise, or ocean sounds, whatever is the most relaxing for you personally. Set a timer for no less than 15 minutes, you deserve at least that. Do something simple and effortless – rub oil into your nails, apply lotion to your hands, put an eye mask over your eyes, slip on heated mitts; the idea isn’t to make more work for yourself it’s to do something for yourself that doesn’t feel like work.

Think outside the box if you need to, don’t fall into the trap of making excuses and neglecting yourself. Your time has value and your sanity does too!
